Statistics on research and development (R&D) and business innovation are provided on the basis of the European business statistics (EBS) regulation starting with reference periods in 2021. Business innovation / Community innovation survey
The following legislations are applicable as of 1 January 2021:
- EU regulation 2019/2152 on European business statistics
- EU implementing regulation 2020/1197 on technical specifications and arrangements for European business statistics
- EU regulation 2022/1092 laying down technical specifications of data requirements for the topic ‘Innovation’
No EU legislation exists for statistics on high-tech industry, knowledge-intensive services and human resources in science and technology, and intellectual property rights.
